The pre-authorisation process ensures that the treatment or procedure is both necessary and appropriate. Except in emergencies, pre-authorisation must be obtained 48 hours before any hospital admission.
Please remember to have the below information available:
- Your member number
- The patient’s details
- The practice numbers of your treating doctors
- The practice number of the hospital
- The date of admission or procedure
- The diagnosis (ICD10) code, tariff codes and CPT (procedure) codes
